The author spent three days of August 91st and two weeks of October 93rd at the besieged White House. Firstly it was built as a house of Soviet Goverment. In Perestroyka it became a house of Parliament of Russian Republic within the USSR and was blocked by Soviet troops during an attempted military putsch. Finally, in sovereign Russia, the Russian parliament was attacked by the troops of President Boris Yeltsin during the parliamentary crisis in 1993.<\/p>\n
Author worked as a photojournalist for popular Moscow newspapers. Miraculously, he managed to save most of the film tapes and find several sheets of notebooks. The book also contains a preface<\/a> (in russian), in which the author talks about that time and about himself.<\/p>\n The idea to combine these events under one cover – under the conditional name \u201cTwo dramas in the same scenery\u201d – came a long time ago. But it would have remained unfulfilled if it had not been for the obsessive repetition of Russian history. What happened 20 years ago is almost forgotten and turned into a couple of clich\u00e9s from the textbook of modern history. But most of the participants in those events are still alive. And the questions that they tried to solve are still relevant today. This book provides no answers. She just tells how it was. <\/p>\n
